Bouygues’ team immersed today the 17th, and last caisson, completing the “belt” supporting the land extension at sea.
This event takes place just one year after the arrival of the first caisson.
This belt, deliberately sinuous in order to preserve the underwater current necessary for the seabed oxygenation, defines the new shoreline of Monaco. The structure erected for 12 months is 500 meters long. It rests at a depth of 20 meters on a specially designed underwater hill, the “backfill”.
